Teacher's Day Dinner 2009

I had a blast last night at Greenridge's Teachers Day Dinner 2009 at 1 Degree 15 Marina Club at Sentosa Cove. It was super fun hanging out with the other teachers and share some laughter. In school, we have to manage and control the class but when there's no students, even teachers can go out of hand!

Photos are still with Magdalene. Will upload them when I got them in school on Monday. Forgetful me brought a digicam without any battery in it. I even charged the battery seh! But anyway 1 Degree 15 Marina Club was super fabulous. I think only the rich and famous stay there....it has wonderful scenery and private boats everywhere. Although the place reminds me of Raffles Marina Country Club but Raffles is at Tuas and 1 Degree 15 Marina is at Sentosa!

I participated many games and we went up to stage a number of times. My table won 1 of the games and surprise surprise, we got a magnetic stapler each! Hehehe....Food wasn't that exciting as I'm kind of bored with 6 or 8 course dinner Chinese style. Ate this type of course for like 3 times this year already at a restaurant called Forest Lodge in the Zoo, Carlton Hotel and now, at 1 Degree 15 Marina.

At the end of the dinner, believe it or not....I won the 2nd prize in the lucky draw!!! I'm like 200bucks richer now. Not exactly cash money but Takashimaya shopping vouchers and well, shopping at Taka is the best place after the last time whereby I bought 2 beautiful looking skirts for more than 100bucks! It was just yesterday when we were listening to the Shan & Rozz on the radio about winning 246bucks and the thing I commented was that, "I earn a lot but having 200++bucks more in the bank will make me super happy as I have extra money for the month!!" And yes indeed...

Happy Teachers Day to all teachers! Teaching is one of the most inspiring jobs in the world although the stress level is already high up there in the head...

Ended the night with meeting up with the hubby. Love him lots!

Updates

Hello!~ :)

I'm back with some updates. Currently, I'm super busy preparing for tomorrow's evaluation of my teaching by my HOD. Had to prepare the lesson plan, the powerpoint slides, the students' notes and the students' worksheets. I'm left with the powerpoint slides which still have much to be amended.

Anyway, two days ago, my soon-to-be mom-in-law celebrated her 49th birthday. Me and hubby surprised her with flowers and a birthday cake sent at her doorstep. Before, I didn't know what we should buy for her and I do not have much time to think and go around looking for her gift. So, I came up with an idea to buy her gift online at www.noel.com.sg. Here are the photos:

I'm going to continue my work now...ciao~

Eve of Ramadhan

Tomorrow depicts the first day of Ramadhan on the Islamic calendar.
Fasting month = Extreme weight loss
=)

Anyway, yesterday after work, me and hubby went to have our last dinner out before the fasting month at Shin Tokyo and we had a feast of Japanese cuisine there. He had teriyaki beef ramen and I had a huge spicy seafood set. We also had a few plates of sushi and fried cheesecake with chocolate ice-cream for dessert. Gosh! At the end of dinner, we were groaning with bloated stomachs!! Here are the amazing photos!

QueenLiyn as a Teacher

Hello hello...well...I'm into my third week of my career as a teacher. When I first started last month, I felt kind of apprehensive that I will not be able to make "presentations" each day. I guess I was not confident of teaching. I was previously from an engineering background and somehow, I know I'm still searching for the satisfaction in my career. I used to dream of becoming an aspiring teacher as a little girl and thankfully, my wish came true.

It's true that we do suffer from high blood pressure but after some time, anger becomes more manageable. Anyway, after three weeks of teaching and "mingling" with the students, I find that teaching brings me a huge satisfaction. It is when a student starts to recognize me that it kind of bring some joy to me. Just yesterday, a normal technical student expressed her sincere appreciation towards my teaching. Other than that, joy comes to me in other forms like for example, yesterday I brought 3 students for a rock climbing competition and I'm so proud that they have won some trophies for themselves.

Now, I am currently posted to Greenridge Secondary School, a school my youngest brother used to go to. Not much to comment, but a career as a teacher is very commendable...
